Post-Wedding Thank Yous: Photo Ideas & Inspirations

Basic wedding etiquette states that couples have about three months after the wedding day to send thank-you notes to their guests. While writing “thank you” 100 times is a daunting task, the wedding thank you notes don’t have to be. With a little preparation on the day of, you can use your wedding photos to convey your appreciation and give guests a special memory of the day to hold on to.

If you choose a thank-you photo, just be sure to leave time to get the photos back and have the cards designed. Work with your photographer to expedite the process, if possible. And, hang on to your guest list – you’ll need it to keep track when you’re writing out your message.

Spell it out: We loved this couple’s sweet “thank you” banner and the photo that resulted from it. Check online shops like Etsy or local craft stores for similar banners. Handheld chalkboards or wooden signs can also make for great ways to express appreciation.

Go for the details: Intimate photos that show a special wedding detail – your rings, your toasting glasses, or something else symbolic – make for a unique setting for a photo card. You’ll still convey the special memory of your day without needing any additional props or signage.

Use your surroundings. Take advantage of our ballroom to capture a moment alone on the dance floor. Light up the night. What better way to say “thank you” than by spelling it out in sparkling fashion? Using sparklers as a finishing touch on a photo can have a truly stunning affect in your photos, as you can see from this Central New Jersey couple’s picture below. (Just be sure to ask about the latest laws governing the use of sparklers!)
